Africa will never be Free if countries such as Zimbabwe,Swaziland and Western
Sahara remain under siege from undemocratic rulers.With the passing of the
Suppression of Terrorist Act by the Regime signaled the pressure the regime is
feeling with the demand for Multi-Party Democracy.
No man is an Island.Solidarity to All mankind has always benefitted the
downtrodden and the marganilised against the Colonialist,Capitalist and
Dictators.The Working Class have indeed nothing to loose than the chains that
binds them.With Swaziland ,Victory is certain!
The Solidarity Forums engagements are indeed gaining momentum and the richness
of Civil Society readiness to change the situation for the better sound
inspiring.We should defeat the misinformation that suggest that Swazi's are
happy with the current system of governance,which has no mandate from from the
majority who survive on Donor Funding due to the poverty levels against
projection of Economic Boom that Only benefit the few elites and the Royal
family.
We were recently in Swaziland where we experienced the incapacity of a country
ranked with countries such as Paragauy in Export and for three days we were not
able to make calls due to poor MTN networks.Engagements with local people on
the street pointed that as long as the King has shares in the network
providers,competition for services by the provider will remain poor.What
corruption can we point than that where ordinary people suffers because of
Royal Family abuse of power.
The Freedom of Association for ordinary workers is indeed threatened as Unions
are always intimidated,surveiled,transfered from one area to another to
dis-organise them,arrested and detained for a fight for a voice in the running
of the country.
What needs to done to accelerate the Democratization of Africa?
Firstly,Cde Mario Masuku must be released unconditionally and others and repeal
the Suppression of Terrorist Act and allow dialogue to ensue.
Secondly,Allow Political Parties to operate and allow freedom of expression
for everyone and allow Trade Unions to organize and defend the rights of
workers against the harshness of Capitalism.
Thirdly,Review the Tinkundla System of Governance and allow people to choose
freely their Representatives to Parliament which is transformed and free
campaigns to All villages as Chiefs are used to give jobs,food parcels and
scholarship in exchange of registration for Elections.This negates the
acceptable practices of community involvement in issues of governance.
Lastly,Poverty and HIV and AIDS is ravaging the communities against the large
lives lived by the Royal Family.Swaziland struggle should indeed be everyone's
struggle as a better Africa is a better Swaziland.Free Education for All
becomes the solution to the suffering of the poor communities as Education
remains the engine for Human Development and a lifetime insurance for growth
and development for any country.
We must All rise and condemn the harsh conditions the Swazi's and other people
in the different parts of Africa such as DRC,Sudan,Western Sahara,Zimbabwe
continues to face.
It is not yet UHURU!!!!!!!!!
