A discussion on HE transformation is unending, yet that only serves as an
indictment on our incoming government to bring change. Transformation in
context of HE education is Beyound a mere appointment of black VC and top
management, it implies overhauling system that were previously meant for
the enjoyment and advancement of the fortunate few to bring about systems
and process that cater for the working class descendent's. It is the very
meaning to re installation of human dignity through friendly institutional
assessment policy, curriculum restructuring and academic throughput which
embraces a true essence of graduatednes.

I am skeptical to discuss how black academics turn to become once they
ascend levels of leadership within our HE institutions, they demand to
disenfranchise the very institutions from the country and its government
and thus reduce them to own entities; the ostensibly do this in the name
of trying to spark 'academic independence and production of knowledge'.
The reality is that such VC have no record of producing new knowledge in
such institutions, an observation is that since the likes of my own VC (
Pityane )took office research output plampted. Then what new knowledge are
they producing?

This debate is far from over, yet many of us seem disinterested in it, I
had expected to see that the likes of K. Pasha whom I first knew due to
his robust engagements through which he took the minter of education to
task at the conference organised by the former Technikon South
Africa.Certainly they have exited the student movement yet their inputs on
such a matter can bring some vigor into the discussion.

Lets us remember register our partners, siblings and parents over the
weekend to deepen our democracy in society!
