comrades from my experience in the UK recruiting YCLers into the league there, i have noted that a major problem is a lack of understanding of class relevance in politics, in other words, there is a strong lack of class consciousness amongst the youth. as comrade Luzuko pointed out, socialist economics is not thought of as an alternative. the same follows in Politics, the most common argument is that socialism failed (collapse of the soviet union) yet the discussion never follows that capitalism fails every day for the majority where in South Africa its in our childrens empty belly's and for the youth in our bias education system, where the only people getting into top universities our the privately educated white's and middle classes. But the failings are also visible in the 'first world' countries, in Britain thousands of pensioners die every year because they cant afford to heat there homes and in the USA millions go without medical cover. Socialism is not a 'dream' or a unattainable system (common responses are 'i would be a socialsit but it would never work here), we can look at the advances made in Venezuela or we can look at our brothers and sisters in Cuba and how even with a illagal blockade by the most powerful country in the world the still manage a better quality of life then most capitalist countries around the world.
finally we need to engage on the moral issues. as communists we believe in peace but we are not pacifists. we believe in militancy but this need not be through a gun. when we talk of struggle it is in terms of bettering the conditions for the working class and poor and this comrades is a moral issue as well as a economical one, there is no divide of morals and economics in politics there is only a divide in class, that of the ruling class and the working class. the only way to truly escape the clutches of capitalism is through the emancipation of the working class through strength and unity. This comrades is the message we need to get across, that working together, we can do more. for socialism in our lifetime --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You are subscribed.
