A Defense for Dr Nzimande is a Defense for the revolution.
“We were called ultra-lefts because we had refused to sell the
Party….we shall never submit” these words we said by Dr. Blade
Nzimande the General Secretary of the Party in the tense inauguration
congress of the Young Communist League of South Africa in 2003. After
his speech the congress was on the joviality spirit, we all chanted the
popular song “Namhlanje sizo launch i-YCL... jabulaninonke Makomanisi”
the GS had been able to unify us. He was from a meeting with christens
on which, he told them the need for Communist and the christen community
to work together for the needy.
The GS was also to meet King Zwelithini (Isilo) and many other civil
society groupings discussing the reconstruction of this country. Under
his leadership the Party saw it membership increasing, it saw itself
mobilizing the people directly under the Red flag. The Red October
programme became one of the key instruments in this regard. By so doing
he was invited on numerous meetings by the right wingers. The former
President of USA was one of the people who wanted to meet him, but the
GS declined those invitations.
As a prickly voice to the ears of the right, he made himself the number
one enemy of those who anticipated the weak Communist Party (after the
collapse of USSR). Karl Marx in communist manifesto observed that “the
history of the hitherto existing society is that of a class struggle”.
This class struggle is over the means of production and consequences
arising thereof. In other words, this class struggle is between those
who have nothing but their labour to sell for survival (the proletariat)
and the captains of the industry or owners of means of production (the
bourgeois). This struggle could either result in the common wreck of
the contending classes or the reconstitution of the whole society.
Assuming that it- as the triumph of capitalism did over feudalism-
results into the reconstitution of the whole society, the victorious
class (i.e. the bourgeoisie) than go on to create a capitalist state
which is the base. This base is than justified, promoted and defended
by the superstructures which amongst other things include laws or the
judiciary system, the media, art, religion and the education system.
Accordingly, the ideas of the ruling class (White monopoly capitalism)
are reflected in these institutions. Put differently, the bourgeoisie
establishes institutions and practices which mirrors their
representation and interests (i.e. profit maximization at all cost).
This entails- however is not limited to- knowledge produced by
institutions of higher learning, scientific research and innovations of
the human mind programmed (false consciousness) to justify, promote and
defend the interest of the property class (capitalist). The media is one
of the powerful weapons of the property class to spread it propaganda.
We will be told (through it) that communist are not charming, they are
evil, uneducated, they are populist, corrupt, antidemocratic and thefore
are enemies of progress. In other words, media is also a site of
ideological contestation since it is a (key) integral part of the
society.
During the period of Uhuru it was (the media) used as an anti-communist
vehicle, news papers, magazines, electronically media: all were telling
Africa that communist are filthy. Perhaps that the causes of our woes
today as Africa, countries were ill-advise and accepted capitalism
without analyzing it nature. The slogan of the PAJGC of Guinea- Bissau
and Cape Verde, then led by the late Amilcar Cabral which was borrowed
by most Africa liberation movement which was “Tell no lies! Claim no
easy victories!” was miscomprehended as most African countries allowed
themselves to the victims of lies designed by the west funded and
inspired “African media”.
It perhaps inline with the above observation that the City Press on of
the most reactionary news papers in the country run a dream story about
the GS and the group of five. The purpose of this short response is not
to deal with the merit or the demerit of the group of five fantasies but
is to challenge the lies that project the GS as the power monger who is
eying for a cabinet post. The media was suppose to know that their cheap
tactic of saying communist are controlling the ANC, had long pass it
sell by date. It is an exhausted tactic; borrow from an oppressive white
regime (Apartheid).
Those in the ANC who still dream of the ANC that is a capitalist
institution must dream on. The ANC is neither the communist nor the
capitalist instrument. It is (and must remain) the National movement
assigned with the task of eliminating the National grievances which are
as a result of colonialism of the special type. It as through out it
existence became the bacon of hope for our people. The majority of those
are the poor and the workers. Thus the GS can not be blackmailed for
accepting the nomination by the ANC of which he is a proud member of. In
the recent past another political perplexity hit the media headlines.
Orchestrated by two Mhlongo-boys, Philip and Siyanda, this confusion
revolves around the claim that the General Secretary of our beloved
organization, the SACP, was an IFP member in the 1980’s.
These boys who are political foetus and are nothing more than crude
opportunist who rides on the wave crest of popularism had repeatedly
told the Nation lies using the same media. It is now clear that they
were the agents of the wounded collusion led by Lekota. We know that
they wanted to bust their manless manhood with the name of the General
Secretary, we shall not allow this
It is a pity that instead of educating the society about the
socio-economic struggle, and the contribution it can make in this regard
the South African media had to belittle itself to gossipers. We know
that the attacks on the GS are not directed to him as an individual but
to our noble cause. That is a reason why we say today, a defense for DR
Nzimande is that of our cause. We know you will not stop the private
invasion of the GS private life, but can you please at least have
admiration for truth.
