comrades, we should applaud the decision to not allow the dalai lame into SA, and we should use this opportunity to dispel false claims that the Dalai Lama is an advocate of democracy and that Tibet should be an independent state.
firstly should Tibet be independent? tibet has only ever be ruled independently from china for 97 years....and this ended in 1368. since then tibet has been ruled as part of china mainly from baijing. it was only after the republican- pro western revolution in 1912 that the Dalai Lama's army took control of modern day Tibet. when the red army marched into Tibet not only did it break the feudal system that the dalai lama had installed., it also reclaimed the historical land of china. We must remember that it was the British government that funded the dalai lamas army with weapons in order to keep it free from Chinese rule as Britain still owned the then colony of India. the dalai lama claims that China discriminates against Tibetans and has acted to kill of Tibetans though acts of genocide. The dalai lame has claimed on numerous occasions that the Tibetans need to remain racially pure and only speaks out in favour of Tibetans (similar in fact to Aryans and Hitler). in actuality Tibet has an incredibly diverse population and historically existed of 4 different racial and language groups where interbreeding between the traditional groups was common place (used to be called mongralisation i believe). Yet the dalai consistently falsifies the number or traditional Tibetans living in Tibet but also surrounding Chinese territory in an attempt to distort an image that there is a Tibetans majority who have a 'real' claim for independence. during the years of full autonomy before the red army liberated Tibet, the dalai lama had instigated a system of feudalism, where rather then kings and queens in charge it was buddist monks and leaders and the population had to pay tribute to there religious leaders, if the Tibet became an independent nation, this is the type of system that would be instigated once more, yet the media portray him as a saviour of democracy finally the area that is included in the dalai lamas claim as Tibet counts as a much higher land area then Tibet has every historically had control over and there is no historical bases for this land are, apart from the falsified figures that the dalai lame quotes as traditional Tibetans. it is clear to see that the reason Tibet gets so much news space is a imperialist agenda to weaken the state of china and drumming up anti- china sentiment. Don't forget the American's have done it before with Taiwan where the republican leadership fled with the support of the US and Britain in order to break up china's territorial claims. We must defend china's claim to tibet, and we must oppose with all our strength an attempt to politicise the World Cup along these grounds.
