Dear Comrades!!!

Some of us have since been waiting patiently for Thabo Mbeki to come out clean
on his political affiliation. I suppose many in our country would have keenly
wanted to understand the contradictions between his unproclaimed or unannounced
spokespersons in the various circles of the political spectrum and his own
declarations or pronouncements.

Perhaps it is important to start by acknowledging that Mr. Mbeki needed to be
challenged in the manner that Comrade Fikile Mbalula has done even though we
know he might want to snub the challenge for him to clarify the nation on his
current political affiliation, allegiance and direction.

Quite frankly, this gentleman cannot keep the nation waiting any longer while
his henchmen continue to feed us the falsehoods about the state of affairs in
the political landscape of our country.

I wish to understand why Mr. Mbeki has not taken an opportunity in his life to
clarify or even declare his own status in terms of his political affiliation. I
remember that the so called divorce papers served by Mosiuoa Lekota on the ANC
came as a result of his disgruntlement with the defeat his master and friend
had suffered in Polokwane, followed by his recalling after it was obvious he
had meddled with the NPA processes to ensure that our or the people's president
does not ascend to the presidency of the country.

When Mbhazima Shilowa decided to join Mosiuoa Lekota and Mluleki Goerge, plus
one William Madisha, he did so because he argued that Mr. Thabo Mbeki was not
well treated and that his recalling was unfortunate for democracy.

One Phillip Dexter was axed by the South African Communist Party after it
became obvious that he planned to sow disunity, divisions and doubt in the
leadership ranks of the SACP. All the advocates of doom had been either
employed in our state institutions or deployed in our organisation by Mr. Mbeki
and when his grace fell flat, they all conspired against the African National
Congress, planning and sowing divisions, creating space and opportunity for the
attack on the ANC and Comrade JZ from within and outside our glorious
movemement.

What is unfortunate is that all these people move from place to place, town to
town, city to city, meeting to meeting, claiming Mbeki's innocence while he is
quiet. He on the other side claims to be a committed and disciplined member of
the the ANC, but fails to defend the ANC against the attacks led by Lekota and
Shilowa (not that the ANC is incapable of defending itself) against the
movement he claims to be part of, still.

It has been pricking on one's conscience as to how someone who continues to
declare that he is a member of the ANC, a discipline member, continues to snub
the mandates and directives of the movement. He opts to declare that he has
retired from politics because he lost the battle to declare the ANC his own
private company. I have noted that retirement does not come after defeat
because if this gentleman really wanted to retire, he would have done the most
honourable thing (handing the ANC peacefully to Jacob Zuma) like Madiba had
done.

It is so funny that every time the ANC raises issues about Mr. Mbeki, it is the
COPE that stands up to defend him, while the man is capable of defending
himself and when he has a functioning office that employs former ANC members
and state employees who resigned for his sake. It is obvious, as both Comrades
Fikile and Julius are putting it, that this man must come forward and declare
his personal status in our organisation.

Why is it that Julius Malema directs statements at Thabo Mbeki and his office
and spokespersons (funded by undeclared means)would elect to be quiet but
Brother Phillip comes out in defence of a non-member of his organisation.

I choose to be controversial if possible in approach and declare that
spokespersons of political parties have the responsibility to defend members,
policies and sometimes presidents of their organisations when they are seen to
be under attack. Therefore I remain with the view that both Fikile Mbalula and
Julius Malema are correct in asserting that we possibly have a president of
COPE in disguise who opts to operate behind the scenes.

Mr. Mbeki must come out clean, and he must do so now.
