*YCLSA welcomes dissolution of ANC NW Provincial Executive Committee* *19 July 2009*
The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] in North-West province welcomes the unapologetic and decisive decision by the ANC National Executive Committee to dissolve the North-West Provincial Executive Committee. The YCLSA has never recognised the Provincial Executive Committee since it was constituted under a serious cloud of factionalism and political thuggerism. We call on members and activists of the Liberation movement as led by the ANC to respect and support the decision of the National Executive Committee as part of rebuilding and cleansing the ANC from being a chained prisoner of political thugs, factionalist and opportunists. The ANC in the province has been used as a private property by certain individuals and leaders, who thought they we were ordained from above to led the organisation. This led to the marginalisation of the ANC itself from executing its revolutionary mandate and duties as encapsulated in the Freedom Charter. We believe as the YCLSA in the province that the dissolution provides a breath of fresh and space to vigorously discuss the fundamental causes of divisions in the ANC which also spilled over to other key components of the mass democratic movement. This requires that we must have an informed discussion on what kind of an ANC do we need in the province which will determine the leadership that will led the organisation in the province. The YCLSA in the province will support the new interim leadership core that will be appointed by the NEC which should be inclusive of the Alliance. The core and key task of the interim leadership core will be both to rebuilding the ANC, and a united, strong and progressive Alliance in sync with the post-Polokwane spirit.
