Dear Bennie Let me begin by thanking you for your interest in our views, however there are few points I would like to address with you.
Organization: Bennie, I do not think I need to belong to any political party to can express my views about issues – but for your information I am a member of the SACP, COSATU, and the ANC – but the views I am expressing are my views and other South Africans who think like I do. It is very interesting that when we express our views you people asks so many questions, avoiding the issues at hand but when it is your commentators and analysists no questions asked – only publishing those views without even editing them – When Max Du preez writes, no journalists will hesistate to publish – because he is a racist, and he is anti ANC and the democratic movement. On the media Bennie let us look at this – below are headlines of the daily newspapers today, Thursday, 29 July 2009. 1. Sowetan: Front page: “Its war!” and in their page 4, they wrote: “Fired-up Cele becomes top cop” 2. The Star: front page headlines: “COWBOY CELE TALKS TOUGH” and they went on to say; “New police chief intent on using deadly force to curb crime” 3. The citizen: “JZ: arrest trashers” and went on to say, “New commissioner Cele’s first presidential order” 4. The Times: “Cele: Its finish and klaar for criminals” (note: seeking to link Comrade Bheki to JS) they further says: “New cowboy commissioner has dead or alive policy” 5. The SABC radios – only quoting the IFP, DA and COPE – ignoring deliberately the voice of the democratic movement – so who said that these parties represent our country -? 6. Electronic Media: this worse because it has only published articles by white liberals who at no stage will they support the ANC. Please show me where and which people are you referring to, who are welcoming Comrade Bheki’s appointment covered by your liberal and reactionary media? In terms of you (the media) being handled by the opposition, read the above newspapers and listen to the radio then we shall talk. Bennie, I gues the issue of my qualification is completely irrelevant in this context, because I am not looking for employment – not from you for that matter. The fact that you were able to understand what I have written and felt compelled to raise some questions indicates my capacity and ability to read and write – I do not think I need a diploma or degree to understand and engage with what is happening in my country – I have worked with the media for long enough and no one have ever asked me whether I have qualifications to speak about the media and to understand how counter revolutionary they are, the South African media in particular not that the international media is progressive but I think now the issue is the SA media.
