I support the YCLSA, SABC is taking us for a ride. They can`t delay a
game in SA as if it is overseas. They bought the right to show the game
live but instead they are delaying it. I think it is time SAFA comment
about this matter because it did not pay the SABC for delayed games. I
did not bother to watch the game as it was live on SABC radios and by
the time it was shown on TV, we all knew the score. Maybe that is the
live broadcast they were talking about of the radio and not TV.

"SABC.....Lala sizwe"

The Young Communist League of South Africa (uFasimba) condemns the SABC
for delaying the soccer match between SA and Serbia

13 August 2009

The SABC should strongly consider changing its tagline from "vuka sizwe"
to lala sizwe, because that is exactly what the nation will resort to as
a result of their inefficiency and defunct service to the public. We are
more prone to hear about paying our TV Licences as opposed how it will
ensure that it gets over the embarrassing debacles that it continues to
get itself tangled in. The government has been at the forefront of
encouraging the nation to rally behind the Bafana Bafana squad;
evidently progress has been made as there is a clear indication that the
call made by SAFA and the government has been heeded by the masses. Last
night the game that was scheduled to start at 19h00 was delayed and by
the time it commenced at 20h30, people were already leaving the stadium.
Am not sure if the concept of "live" games still needs to be thoroughly
explained to the SABC team. Lest we forget how it insulted the president
of the Republic of South Africa on Women's' day when he was doing his
presentation speech at Vryheid where the majority speak isiZulu; he was
ordered to speak in English by the SABC team in order to accommodate the
time allocated to him. The constitution makes it clear that there are 11
official languages and they are all equally recognised by the
constitution of the republic of South Arica. Such ill-discipline cannot
be tolerated by young people and South African people in general. It's
time that SABC gets it's ducks in a row and if it has any intention of
salvaging the little respect it still has the process of introspection
needs to be fast tracked and an amicable plan of action be adopted to
deal with the carcases of mismanagement which is underpinned by
confusion and less interest of what is of national interests.
