*The YCLSA condemns the intransigence of management at the University of Pretoria (UP)*
*8 September 2009* The SRC elections are taking place at the University of Pretoria despite the fact the Student front (YCL, PASMA, ANCYL, SASCO) have submitted a memorandum to the management stating their reasons as to why they are opposed to the current process of elections which is not a reflection of the student community at large. We call on management at the UP to engage with students in a manner that is conducive for all stakeholders particularly students and refrain from perpetuating apartheid practices including racism and sexism. We condemn that the SRC elections are still taking place despite the pending process of resolving this matter and we further would like to condemn management for threatening students with security forces on campus as a way of manufacturing consent and obedience through suppression. As the YCLSA we shall not recognize the outcome of such apartheid style SRC elections altogether with their racist outcome as management intends.
