Comrades you are arguing semantics,
As it has been noted by another comrade, the name being general
secretary or secretary general or national secretary holds no
necessary tie to a given role within an organisation, the constitution
defines the roles of each. In terms of trying to standardise
terminology to avoid confusion certain names have a tendency to be
adopted, such as general secretary for the head of a communist party,
which is common across many countries. In the YCL Britain the head is
a GS not a NS, however the role is identical practically to that of
the NS of our YCL. One of the reason the YCL has a NS rather then a GS
is because it was to highlight the leading role the SACP has in
guiding the direction of the YCL as our parent organisation. Consider
this, if the YCL was to alter the NS title to GS do you think it would
effect the working relationship we have with the SACP?

As far as branches are concerned, the BS (branch secretary) is the
‘head’ of the branch, and the chairperson chairs the meetings. However
a Branch Executive Committee should be acting as a collective and will
be using there combined energies for the completion of aims and
objectives

If comrades wish to know the roles of there leaders simply read the
constitution and working documents of that organisation and it will be
there.

This forum over the past few months has started to deteriorate to the
point where it no longer is useful, with name calling rather then
debate the preferred method of communication. Although this forum is
open and has non YCL members it does not mean we cannot robustly
discuss the issues of the day weather playing devils advocate or
engaging with those of differing opinions.

Shooting people down rather then addressing the issues is a tactic of
Helen Zille and the DA not of a disciplined organisation on the left
