*NUMSA STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF DEPUTY MINISTER OF HEALTH* * *
*05 April 2010*** The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) joins the people of South Africa and the Revolutionary Alliance as whole in mourning the untimely departure of the Deputy Minister of Health Cde Molefi Selufaro. Cde Sefularo’s death should serve as a call to the African National Congress (ANC) and government to implement the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHI) in the interests of the working class and the poor. This is the befitting tribute that our movement can honour Cde Selufaro for his efforts and dedication in the transformation of the apartheid and racialised health-care system in our country post 1994 democratic breakthrough. We find solace in that Cde Selufaro joins the galaxy of revolutionaries in the land of the departed such Oliver Tambo, Chris Hani, Solomon Mahlangu and countless others who died before the dawn of our political freedom. When we meet them in no distant future the noble goals of the Freedom Charter would have been accomplished and the lives of our people improved for the better. We send our sincere and profound condolences to his family, friends, his colleagues in the Cabinet and the ANC. Death shall not be proud!
