The Chairpersons and CEOs from companies such as Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Daimler, Deutsche Bank, General Electric, Royal Dutch Shell, and Rio Tinto have already confirmed their attendance. These companies have a long history of exploiting people and workers around the world. Coca-Cola has been implicated in the murders of trade unionists in places such as Colombia. General Electric has benefited directly from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Rio Tinto has left massive amounts of pollution in its wake from its operations in the ‘developing’ world. Perhaps the most notorious company attending is Shell, which has been involved in human rights abuses and environmental destruction in the Niger Delta. We plan to have a protest against this meeting, the companies involved and the Department of Trade and Industry to tell them we don’t want these companies or their exploitation. They have already done enough damage to our communities! For this reason we invite all organizations to the planning meeting to be held at Community House in order to organise the protest For more information about the planning meeting or if you would like to attend contact: Pastor Barry at 021 448 0637 (Ogoni Solidarity Forum) or Mzi at 021 447 6375 (Social Movements Indaba) Bruce Kadalie Media & Communications Services 0844640139 [email protected] _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Free, trusted and rich email service. https://signup.live.com/signup.aspx?id=60969 -- You are subscribed.
