POPCRU condemns misinformation sowed by the State on the South Africans

POPCRU has noted the uncalled for and mischievous announcement by government
that our general membership will receive 8, 5% in real term inclusive of pay
progression. We are putting on record that pay progression of 1,5% was signed
for by the employer and employee organization(s) long time ago in 2003,which is
conditional and only payable through a performance assessment, and our
membership must undergo many processes to receive such.

It is misleading on the part of government to sow confusion on the masses to
suggest that public servants are unsound and unfair in their demands. We
reiterate a fact that government must stop negotiating in the media and do the
honorable thing-a table a real revised offer.

POPCRU deplores the unilateral signing of the Collective Agreement by the
employer even when we know the dispute is not yet settled. And all rules of
engagement must be respected to restore the importance of Collective Bargaining
Council as provided through the Labour Relations Act as amended.

Not amount of confusion will deter our membership in general from a genuine
demand for a living wage.
