*CWU ON MSWATI’S SHAMEFULL CONCERT-PARTY*

* *

*21 April 2011*

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is horror-struck by Mswati’s regime in
organising a multi-million rand concert-party for his son using worker tax
payers’ money in Swaziland. It is very rude, brutal and horrible for Mswati
to cut salaries of Swaziland workers for the sake of a luxurious
concert-party for his son. This is almost lunacy.

CWU calls on all South African (S.A) artists to abandon this ruthless
concert in solidarity with the people of Swaziland. We call on our sister
union, the Creative Workers Union of South Africa (CWUSA) to instruct its
members (South African artists) to abandon this lunatic concert-party which
is held at the expense of the working class and the poorest of the poor of
Swaziland. As CWU, we regard DJ Tira and DJ Tungero as heroes by withdrawing
from performance in a country that smells blood of innocent people who are
killed by the Tikundla regime for seeking democracy and freedom.

We are disappointed as CWU by Bonang Matheba, a presenter of a popular show
at SABC 1 *live *and Metro FM presenter, DJ Thibo-Touch and others to agree
to attend this atrocious and horrific event that is organised during the
revolt by the citizens of Swaziland to liberate Swazi people. Our patriotic
artists must not be driven by capital at the expense of the blood of the
working class and the poorest of the poor of Swaziland.

Bonang Matheba, DJ Thibo-Touch and DJ Lungsta should associate themselves
with events that build a unified African Nation so that their work of art
could have a huge effect in shaping the African Nation at large in terms of
attaining freedom, democracy, peace and social justice. They should be
inspired by the work of great artists like Sello “Chicco” Twala, Mama Yvonne
Chaka Chaka, the late Lucky Dube, Mama Mariam Makeba, Brenda “Mabrrr” Fassie
and many more great progressive artists.

CWU would like to draw the attention of South African artists to the fact
that the struggle of the people of Swaziland is a struggle of all the people
in the African continent, so it is very important that everyone must pledge
solidarity with the people of Swaziland against this lunatic Tikundla. *An
injury to one is an injury to all.*

The spirit of great African leaders like Oliver Tambo, Julius Nyerere, Kwame
Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba and many more who fought for democracy, freedom,
social justice and peace in our African continent will haunt King Mswati, as
his regime is about to collapse.
