Building Working Class Unity across borders taken to Malawi
POPCRU will visit Malawi from the 17th -19th July 2011 to put forward the 07th
National Congress Resolution to host an International Labour Relations
Symposium
around November this year.
This follows a successful Botswana International Symposium held in 2009 in
Gaborone in which many African Trade Unions and Associations were interested to
engage on solidarity support to have sound collective bargaining structures in
their own countries.
Botswana symposium provided a sound foundation which was taken forward by the
07th National Congress at Bloemfontein, amongst others on;
* Advancing interaction Trade Unions, Associations and government
bodies in
developing new legislative frameworks aligned to the basic Conventions of
International Labour Organization [ILO],
* Consolidate developing and enhancing basic organizational skills to
effectively establish vibrant African Trade Unions,
* Enhance advocacy on respect for Labour Rights amongst all African
countries
and beyond,
* Enhance Social Dialogue to attain an achievement of Unity of Workers
on the
African Continent.
POPCRU will meet the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions [MCTU] and prominent
government officials to resume cross-pollination of ideas, experiences and
alternatives to consolidate working class hegemony across the borders.
The delegation will be led by the POPCRU General Secretary and other Officials.
