Festive season has its ugly chapter!
The festive season in all countries has been used as a time to reflect on the
spirit of love, generosity and togetherness buy many lunatics have spoiled such
camaradie by committing unpalatable acts against fellow human beings.
Some made travellers to drink concoction to steal their luggage’s, some
‘caused’ dear lives of many travellers through negligence in some instances and
others literally caused havoc at community functions on a disguise that they
are drunk.
Anti-social behaviour cannot be ignore in a state which respects rule of law!
One such which is still fresh was the ‘gang-raping’ of a sixteen year old girl
at Songwane, Limpopo. How dare so-called people harbour such barbaric acts on
such an innocent and young future leader?
We have being ordained that a ‘village’ is responsible for nurturing good
citizenry but what does such misdemeanour do to the spirit of good
neighbourhoodness?
Obviously, many families will become estranged and thus fuelling some kind of
revenge antics which are unwarranted.
Parents must begin to take the centre stage and account on developing good
behaviours amongst their children, including monitoring their movements and
which ‘friends’ are they keeping.
Sending such young people for life sentences is part of the criminal justice
outcomes but these acts may be avoided through ‘owning up’ on ‘our’ actions.
Young people, even if they are young must be answerable to their actions.
Period!
