ANC
*ANC Statement, 1 May 2012* *May Day*The African National Congress salutes the workers of South Africa today on the occasion of May Day.
South African workers and those of the world deserve acknowledgment for their role in developing and sustaining our economy and that of the world.
South African workers have distinguished themselves within the hundred years of the existence of the ANC as a significant partner in the struggle for liberation and development. Their progressive and revolutionary outlook has been key in defining the parameters and content of our struggle.
As we celebrate this day, we want to name a few amongst many of the fallen heroes of our workers' struggles in the likes of Clement Kadalie, Vuyisile Mini, Elijah Barayi and Chris Dlamini.
These stalwarts were amongst the most advanced of our revolutionaries owing to their understanding of the interdependence of the struggle of the workers and those of our communities.
The major centenary May Day event will be addressed by *President Jacob Zuma* in Mangaung, and Comrade *Gwede Mantashe* is deployed in East London to address the May Day rally.
