*Cosatu denies opposing ANC* *SAPA, iAfrica, 2 May 2012*The Congress of SA Trade Unions and the SA Communist Party are not teaming up against its alliance partner the ANC, Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini said on Tuesday.
Addressing a Workers Day rally in the Free State, Dlamini said the SACP was also not an opponent of Cosatu.
"The agenda is the same: to realise socialism in South Africa."He said Cosatu was there to strengthen the ANC and it and the SACP were not engaged in any leadership discussions.
Dlamini said those in Cosatu who were busy with talks of who the new ANC secretary-general and party leader would be were confused.
He said the time would come when the nomination process would be open.Dlamini told the gathering that Cosatu stood by the decisions of the ANC leadership elected at Polokwane and would work with them as decided.
Referring to the coming ANC elective conference in Mangaung, Dlamini said nothing had changed from the previous conference at Polokwane.
"We affirm that we stand with the position on leadership as at Polokwane," he said, adding that Cosatu wanted the current leadership to take them through.
"We do not want any disturbances in this."On worker issues, Dlamini urged that the South African Constitution be reviewed and revisited with regard to mining rights and state intervention.
He said South Africa needed a state that had more control to realise the governing party's ideals.
Dlamini said Cosatu and the ANC had agreed on amendments in regard to the labour laws.
These included that violence during worker strikes would not be laid on the shoulders of unions. He said there were other laws that addressed issues of violence.
"Violence is violence in society and we agree with the ANC on that."Dlamini said Cosatu's efforts to address concerns over the e-tolls system in Gauteng should not be confused with the efforts of the political opposition, the Democratic Alliance.
"Cosatu does not work with those people," he said.Dlamini said Cosatu had not taken the government to court on the issues of e-tolls yet, and would continue to look for a lasting solution with the ANC on the matter in talks.
