*Construction giants face ban <http://www.iol.co.za/business/business-news/construction-giants-face-ban-1.1335383>*, Roy Cockayne, Business Report, Johannesburg, 6 July 2012

This story on the Business Report front page says that the five biggest construction companies have been "colluding" -- running a cartel -- so that quotes are higher. The government knows about it, wants to stop it, and wants to exclude these companies from the R800 billion infrastructure projects coming down the road. The companies say, we are the industry, and you cannot do that infrastructure without us so you will just have to pay our rigged prices.

*Businesses 'must fight corruption from within' <http://www.iol.co.za/business/business-news/businesses-must-fight-corruption-from-within-1.1335397>*, Ann Crotty, Business Report, Johannesburg, 6 July 2012

*'Labour brokers won't be banned' <http://www.iol.co.za/business/business-news/labour-brokers-won-t-be-banned-1.1335408>*, Business Report, Johannesburg, 6 July 2012

Not fresh news, but re-stating, in a reply to a Parliamentary question, the Minister Oliphant said: "cabinet at its meeting of March 20, 2012, approved the Labour Relations Amendment Bill 2012 for submission to Parliament. The amendments contained in the bill regulate labour brokers, but do not ban them. The amendments will now be considered by Parliament."

*Conflicts galore on education topic <http://www.iol.co.za/business/business-news/conflicts-galore-on-education-topic-1.1335396>*, Terry Bell, Business Report, Johannesburg, 6 July 2012

Terry Bell floats a lot of speculative accusations here about educationbased on a couple of phone calls; but not against Lady Mary Metcalfe or the new QUAGA (quasi-government aid-organisation) called "Section 27". This is a low-grade article from the ultra-leftist anti-communist and (usually) anti-COSATU journalist of the Business Report "Inside Labour" column.

The school book scandal is years or even decades old. It is a political story even more than it is a crime story. It is about who controls what literature the children get to see. It is a political-education story. Terry Bell has not got the story. As usual, he is deployed to bash some part or parts of the movement, and in the first place, on this occasion, SADTU.

*SACP poised to change its leadership structure <http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/news/2012/07/06/sacp-is-poised-to-change-its-leadership-structure>*, Olebogeng Molatlhwa, Sowetan, 6 July 2012

Gossip about leadership of the Party.

*Mantashe to quit SACP's top job <http://mg.co.za/article/2012-07-05-mantashe-to-quit-sacps-top-job>*, Rapule Tabane, Mail and Guardian, Johannesburg, 6 July 2012

Interview with Solly Mapaila where Solly announces through the Mail and Guardian that Chairperson Gwede Mantashe will not stand for that position at the Congress.

*Poisoning Arafat <http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/07/06/poisoning-arafat/>*, Uri Avnery, Counterpunch, USA, 6 July 2012

Veteran Israeli former MP and friend of Yasser Arafat, on the undoubted poisoning.
