Service Delivery March led by the South
African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape
The SACP in the Western Cape has
observed with serious concern the manner in which the DA led government of the
Western Cape has unfairly treated the working class communities in the
Province. During the provincial budget vote process, the SACP picketed before
the Legislature in protest against the budget bias against the poor areas of
the province. Since then we have witnessed the working class communities of the
province demonstrating their anger against the demise of service delivery in
their local communities.
The SACP regards as untenable and a
brazen violation of human rights that the DA elite provincial budget
prioritises the CBD development in the City of Cape Town, whilst slashing down
Human Settlement budget at the point when the housing backlog in the City is
more than 500 thousand units each year.
In joining the National Red October
Campaign themed “Basic Services for all” we condemn the DA government for
causing the people of Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Plilipi, Pholile in Strand,
Kraaifontein etc to live without amongst others sanitation, habitable housing,
and access to water.
The SACP calls on all the people of
the Western Cape to join us as we march in protest against the demise of
service delivery in the Western as follows:
Date: Friday, 26 October, 2012
Time: 10:00 am
Meeting point: Kaizer’s Gracht Street
Route: Via Adderly Street to the Provincial Legislature
Buses are available to transport
people to Town and back.
