On what Paul Mashatile Calls "Leadership Change in the ANC" I call it an opportunistic defending of the elitist grouping to delay people’s democracy for people’s power.
The most recent noise made by the Gauteng Chairperson of the African National Congress Mr. Paul Mashatile is just one but an exposure of the opportunistic defense to the elitist grouping with intentions to protect their tiny interests in the expense of the poor and the working class. The African National Congress in its 2007 Congress had taken firm resolutions to defend the gains and expose opportunism and fight corruption. Today the Gauteng Leadership under Mashatile has failed to unify the African National Congress in the province and this is precisely because in the process of wanting leadership change the very same elitist grouping is continuing to protect its economic interests across the province. This entire people who today are seen as calling for change, are hell-bent to the underdevelopment of our communities through amassing of wealth from our tax payers pocket for their individual gains. Most of the departments within the Province has been put under administration as a results of individual companies being directly involved in the procurement of tenders un-procedurally, maladministration and mismanagement of funds has been an order of the day. To be precise, those who heads the departments either as MECs or Directors enters within those department without being rich and they becomes millionaires overtime. The fact that some amongst them can not account on how they have accumulated their millions it leaves a lot to be desired. It is the very same Mashatile who currently addresses people by imposing his preferential candidature without consultation to the branches that elected him as a provincial Chairperson. He goes around and speaks as though he is being mandated on what ever he hails to the public and as a disciplined member of the ANC he should seek wisdom from members of the organization. If it is so much important to replace the current leadership why putting another one in the first place? The truth of the matter is that since President Jacob Zuma has been sworn to the office he is just currently on his 3rd year in his term of office. The analysis that suggests Thabo Mbeki allowed President Jacob Zuma to take the office therefore even President Jacob Zuma should do so is narrowly construed. Thabo Mbeki took over from our first President Nelson Mandela in 1996, he continued until he started his first and second term on top of that of Nelson Mandela and nobody could ever question that. Let the truth be told that, every president when entering office does not start immediately within his or her own plans but he had to firstly finish the plans of the past administration that has been budgeted for and it is only after that that he/she can begin with his or her own plans. The same had applied with President Jacob Zuma. It is mischievous for Paul Mashatile to hide by the question of leadership change while he knows himself that this is for the fact that he wants to be the National Chairperson to replace Baleka Mbethe. A question that must be asked for those who says they need leadership change is that; where did President Zuma went wrong? Why must we change leadership without having to provide a political solution in where we think President Zuma has went wrong? What makes this people to think that Kgalema Motlante is coming with no mistakes in his projected leadership? We must be able to ask at whose interest that we had to change leadership on the basis of feelings? If those people can do justice and answer this question maybe a truth may come out as to why they want Zuma to be replaced by Motlante. It is corruption that had factionally organized them against the President of the country and the African National Congress hence they see it to be so urgent that President Zuma be removed from leading the country. They have made it their career to loot government resources for their personal gains, so now they are avoiding being disturbed to enrich themselves. The branches in Soweto are being purged most of them for supporting the Presidential candidature of Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa as his Deputy. Members are being removed from membership data precisely because they hold different views on leadership question and this is just a prove that the careerist will do all that it takes to destabilize the functions of our organization. This only serves to delay our people to achieve people’s democracy and attain socialism through the guidance of the Freedom Charter.
