*SACP Statement, 16 November 2012*** *Israeli Attacks on Palestine*The SACP condemns in the strongest terms possible the recent unprovoked Israeli attacks against Palestinian territories. These attacks are not only illegal in terms of international law, but also pose a grave humanitarian crisis for Palestinian territories such as Gaza, which have been totally cut off from other areas through barbarian check points and the 'apartheid wall'.
Israeli attacks against the Palestinians' territories, we have come to observe, normally occurs immediately before elections in Israel, and this time around is no different, as Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu seeks to put himself ahead in the electoral process through a criminal campaign of attacking Palestinian territories.
The region of the Middle East is indeed in the throes of serious geo-political crisis, which poses serious implications for world affairs generally.Imperialist design to seek to redraw the Middle East has seen efforts to draw into the military instability and crisis Syria and Iran.
The SACP calls for urgent intervention by the UN to stop the Israeli atrocities and for speedy resolution to the crisis. There is a need for the UN and other international agencies and multilateral bodies to urgently provide humanitarian aid. It is the view of the SACP that all progressive governments should immediately cut diplomatic ties with apartheid Israel and we hereby call on progressive governments to do so urgently.
