*5 February 2013*** *NEHAWU to Demonstrate for the Release of the Cuban 5*The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) will hold a demonstration at the embassy of the United States tomorrow on the 5th March 2013 between 12h00 -- 14h00 pm in Tshwane to demand the release of the Cuban Five and to protest the hostile American foreign policy against Cuba. This policy has seen five Cuban heroes condemned to prolonged sentences including life sentences for their brave surveillance missions to track and report the activities of Miami based terrorist gangs who were planning terrorist attacks against Cuba.
Despite his ability to reform existing policy by normalising relations with Cuba and to specifically grant pardon to the Cuban Five in accordance with the US Constitution Article 2, Section II, The United States President Barack Obama has remained impervious, ignoring many appeals from Americans citizens and people throughout the world to free the Cuban five.
The demonstrators will hand in a letter from the NEHAWU, General Secretary Comrade Fikile Majola to US President Barack Obama urging him to free Gerardo, Ramon, Fernando, Antonio and Rene.
This ongoing campaign takes place every 5th of the month and will continue throughout 2013. It is time for president Obama to release the Five Cuban patriots. NEHAWU calls on all activists to support this call and join the demonstration at American Embassy at 877 Pretorius Street, Arcadia.
