*YCLSA Gauteng Press Statement *

The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the Young Communist League of
South Africa (YCLSA), uFasimba in the province of Gauteng has officiated
over four district congresses in the last eleven days. The district
congress in Oupa Phasha District (Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality)
took place during the weekend ending 14 July 2013 while district congresses
in Linda Jabane District (Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality), Greater
Tshwane District (Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality) and Vaal District
(Sedibeng District Municipality) took place simultaneously during the
weekend ending 21 July 3013.

The convening of these district congresses represents the highest form of
discipline correctly in line with the South African Communist Party’s
strategic theme for 2013 as the year of the district. In the preceding
period the province has been engaged in thoroughgoing work of
organisational development to ensure that branches and members are in good
standing, including organisational expansion through the recruitment of new
members and the launching of new branches. This involved a process of
in-depth political education and ideological training representing yet
another highest form of discipline correctly in line with the YCLSA’s
strategic theme for 2013 as the year of political education and ideological
training.

Between January and June, we have held district political schools
facilitated by the Provincial Executive Committee, culminating in a
Provincial Political School complemented by two Provincial Councils in the
same period. Our District Executive Committees have facilitated in the same
period the induction of new members and branches coupled with branch
political schools in some areas.

Our organisation is alive and kicking and is characterised by high moral
and high discipline, unity and cohesion, partly reflected in the unanimous
election of leadership in all our district congresses. This is a sign of
strength and of democracy being given play, first and foremost through
freedom of discussion.

Arising out of our district congresses we are heading to our National
Council to be held this week 25-28 July, following which we shall be full
swing implementing the outcomes of the council and the elections campaign.
The victory of the African National Congress led forces is sealed, with us
firmly on the ground, the rest shall be exposed to be what they are, i.e.
rhetoric by corrupt and ill-disciplined elements either suspended or
dismissed from our movement as well as a mixture of oppositions made up by
both right-wing parties and left-wing detractors or populists, among
others.
