South African Communist Party, JB Marks District, North West Province, 8 August 2013 SACP JB Marks District Congratulates ANC on winning the Tlokwe Ward 9 By-Election The South African Communist Party in the JB Marks District of the North West Province hereby congratulates our ally, the African National Congress on winning the municipal bi-election at ward 9 of the contested Tlokwe Local Municipality held on Wednesday, 7 August 2013. This by-election took place just three days after the SACP held its successful 92nd anniversary rally at the Ikageng stadium where the General Secretary of our vanguard fighting revolutionary Party Comrade Blade Nzimande issued a clarion call to all SACP cadres, ANC and COSATU members to mobilize for a final push for the people of Tlokwe to go out and vote overwhelmingly for the ANC "so that we can re-claim the Tlokwe municipality from the party of baases and madams". Indeed the 739 votes cast for the ANC compared to a mere 198 for the DA have sent a clear message to the reactionary anti-majoritarian Zille/Combrinck party that Tlokwe is the home of the ANC and its allies and will remain a base of the popular forces for many many years. We thank the residents of ward 9 for heeding the call by the ANC-led Alliance and MDM formations to go to the polls and cast their vote in support of our glorious movement, a disciplined force of the Left. This victory belongs to the heroic masses of our people who steadfastly refused to listen to the lies and tricks of the DA and their rented opportunistic element which sought to betray the ANC and derail our revolution and has since been expelled from the our ranks. We commend in particular all members of the SACP Red Brigade from the two sub-districts of Matlosana (Klerksdorp) and Tlokwe (Potchefstroom) who spend the whole week in Ikageng going door to door and doing publicity work i.e. postering and pamphleteering in order to popularize the ANC candidate and create awareness about the anniversary rally. The Party District congratulates comrade Mary Segogonyane Mosieleng, an SACP cadre and dedicated community activist on her election as ANC ward councilor in ward 9 which is one of the biggest in Tlokwe. We wish her a successful tenure and look forward to working closely with her in taking forward SACP mass-based campaigns such as the Know Your Neighbourhood Campaign and in the implementation of government programmes to fight poverty and underdevelopment in that particular ward and the sub-district as a whole. We believe this victory is a huge vote of confidence in the ANC-led Alliance by the residents of Tlokwe and will stand us in good stead as we build the momentum towards the oncoming bi-elections in the remaining 8 wards due on 18 September 2013, which will be the final test to determine who wields power in Tlokwe.
