*South African National Apex Co-operative Youth (SANACO Youth) Supports the African National Congress for the Coming General Elections*
SANACO Youth is a movement of youth co-operatives in South Africa. Its core mandate is to establish and coordinate youth co-operatives and ensure that the principle of co-operation amongst co-operatives is realized as outlined by the international cooperative principles. SANACO Youth derives its existence from SANACO, the only Apex movement in the country. SANACO is member of International Co-operative Alliance (ICA). We as the SANACO Youth want to take this opportunity to rally young people towards the poll on the 07 May and to vote for the government of the people South Africa today is a better place to stay in because of the fundamental changes and developments championed by the government of the African National Congress. It is against this background that as SANACO Youth today we want to convey our message clears to our South African Populace entirely, youth, women and people with disabilities across all racial lines. As the SANACO Youth we have a responsibility to highlight the significant economic disparities in our country in line with National Development Plan and Industrial Policy Action Plan and to bring a cooperative practical perspective in all areas of development. We have obtained sufficient orientation in understanding the nature and character of the African National Congress on issues of development. We reiterate the point made timely by many in our country that the ANC have a good story to tell since the demise of the apartheid horrendous system. We further reiterate the point that the African National Congress would not have made this magnificent progress had it was not for the revolutionary alliance with the SACP, COSATU and SANCO. We believe that the period of 20 years of democracy will always be a bumpy road for any organization to make sufficient progress like what the ANC have done so far. SANACO Youth subscribe to the idea that says development shall be classified with work in progress than a cast in stone. A lot more needs to be done to ensure that there is a total emancipation of our people in all walks of life. We can vociferously say with pride that our community is leaving in bettered conditions as compared to the period of apartheid. We therefore would like to mobilize young people to take important their right to vote as enshrined in the constitution. It is also important for every young person to realize that this was a very hard won right that has long been suppressed by the apartheid government. Our true revolutionaries never fought for this liberation for spoiling ballots and spell out frustration by behaving as an outcast to the revolution you have fought for. We might not be the political formation to raise some of the issues in a most political manner, but as a business formation we are of the view that all business formations are operating in a political atmosphere hence we find it to be important to reflect on this important aspects. SANACO Youth would like to unequivocally indicate to the ANC that in as much as the ANC continues to lead our country, the ANC must also bring the development of our country at the top of its agenda. We are of a firm belief that cooperatives could play a significant role in enormously achieving a significant development in South Africa. We call upon the ANC to influence government departments to procure most of their products and services from the cooperatives and services such as catering, schools feeding schemes, cleaning, maintenance, security services should no longer be outsourced to the private capital while cooperatives are left outside. We have seen magnitude of support given to most economic entities such as Small Medium Enterprise and entrepreneurship by government departments in different ministries and the same is taking place with the cooperatives through the Department of Trade and Industry. As a youth cooperative advocate SANACO Youth is calling upon tightening of department’s belts when coming to the strengthening of cooperatives to have equal capacity as big capital companies doing business with the government. Working together we can move South Africa forward. SANACO Youth say a vote to the ANC is a push towards total emancipation to our people and the implementation of National Development Plan in a most practical way. *Issued by the SANACO Youth National Chairperson Takalani Mmbengeni* *For more information call/ 082 625 1706* -- -- You are subscribed.
