The Violet Seboni Brigade calls for an ANC vote
The Violet Seboni Brigade calls on all young workers and South Africans in
general to vote for the ANC on the 7th of May
The Violet Seboni National Brigade calls on all workers in particular young
workers and South Africans in general to go to the polls on May 7 to ensure
a decisive victory for the African National Congress.
The young workers have under the ANC government seen the establishment of a
progressive and worker-biased labour relations framework, the protection of
collective bargaining and the r right to association.
As expected, the build up to the general elections has produced some new
enemies for the ANC whilst the older ones came up with desperate attempts to
vilify it. The reality is that the ANC has been in existence for over a
century and that over the past 20 years this country has made major strides
at multiple levels of government.
We are of the firm view that against this background, young workers, workers
and South Africans in general must never allow themselves to be misled by
narrow "electioneerist" and the Johnny-Come-Lately formations that exist
only for the purposes of appearing on the ballot paper and going to
parliament for their own narrow and selfish interests.
We want to call upon all and sundry to refuse to be used as a stepping
ladder for careerist populists cum anarchists that feel that they have a
bone to chew against the ANC and its leader President Zuma in particular.
We are well aware that these insults are nothing but an attempt to destroy
the ANC and we call on all young workers to take a lead and defend their
gains and those of fellow South Africans which the opposition has
desperately and deliberately turned a blind eye on. We are happy that as
part of the electioneering process some of these formations published their
manifestos which exposed their true intentions and shallow-mindedness.
The fact that some of these manifestos are nothing more than a kindergarten
fairytale as they don't require a person with academic credentials of an
economic analyst to know that their proposed policies will just not work
anywhere in the world, let alone South Africa.
These electioneerist formations have shown that they cannot exist in an
environment that lacks anarchy hence they rely on insults particularly
directed towards the President as part of their strategy. They believe that
it is only through media sound bites and ridiculing our leaders that they
can convince South Africans to vote for them.
On the other hand, we have seen how the neo-liberal formation that has a
Johnny-come-lately in the forefront of their campaign failed to go beyond
Nkandla and the manipulation of jobs statistics in the Western Cape in a
desperate attempt to woe voters.
We can state without any fear of contradiction that the ANC government
indeed has a good story to tell and we are certain that all those South
Africans that now have access to housing, water, sanitation, electricity,
basic education, FET & higher education, primary health care and social
security can attest to that. As the saying goes, numbers don't lie and there
is no doubt that under the ANC government a significant number of our
people's lives have been changed for the better.
We are convinced that it is only under an ANC government that South Africa
can genuinely move forward, it is only the ANC that has shown an
appreciation of the short to long term challenges and only the ANC has a
firm and coherent plan on how these can be mitigated.
Let us all go to the polls on the 7th of May and do the right thing which is
to re-affirm the ANC as the only organization that can lead this country and
ensure a better life for all South Africans.
