KZN SADTU refutes cash for posts allegations

SABC, Johannesburg, 4 June 2014

South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in KwaZulu-Natal has denied
any knowledge of the alleged cash for posts scandal in the province. During
a media briefing, the union leadership has described reports on the alleged
corruption as lies.

SADTU's provincial secretary, Mbuyiseni Mathonsi, says they will co-operate
fully with the the Department of Basic Education's inquiry into the alleged
scam across the country.

Mathonsi says one of their members Nkosinathi Zondi died fighting for the
union's campaign against corruption in the Department of Education in the
Ugu District.

"We are going to cooperate fully with any form of investigation including
the high office that people talk about. But what we are not going to accept
is to allow people dragging our names and the names of our leaders in the
mud.

"Nkosinathi Zondi who had been murdered and they stripped him of SADTU
colours. They decide to call him a whistle blower and they are saying he was
blowing whistle against SADTU on corruption. This person died fighting a
SADTU war against corruption in department in the Ugu district," explains
Mathonsi.
