SADTU North West, Media Alert, 30 July 2014 6th SADTU North West Provincial Conference SADTU North West will be holding its 6th Triennial Provincial Conference from the 1st to the 3rd August 2014 at Mmabatho Palms Hotel in Mahikeng and the Provincial Conference will be attended by 200 SADTU delegates, representatives from government, sister unions, sister provinces, alliances, education alliances and business partners. The Provincial Conference will conduct election of eight (8) POB members, namely the Provincial Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Provincial Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, and three (3) Portfolio Convenors as determined by the National Congress. The Conference will meet under the following themes: - Theme: 'Organise and Empower Education Workers to Deliver Free Quality Public Education and Build Socialism' - - Sub Theme: "Consolidating Working Class Power for Organisational Renewal and Education Transformation" Please note that media is invited to attend this important highest policy making structure in the province and interact with SANCO, ANC, SACP, COSATU and SADTU National Leadership. The Conference starts with registrations from 9:00 and will draft mandates for the 2014/2015 collective bargaining season as well as salary negotiations, take a posture on the Israeli offensive against Gaza as well as take a pledge against Boko Haram. It will also receive reports on organizational activities, interaction with the department of education in a quest to service membership. It will surely resolve to fight for absorptions of temporary educators and the payment of rural allowance among others.
