South African Communist Party Central Committee, 19 August 2014 Central Committee to meet in Soweto The South African Communist Party's Central Committee will hold its Plenary Session in Soweto. The Central Committee is SACP's highest decision-making body in between National Congresses which take place once in five years. The Central Committee meets quarterly to assess progress in taking forward the Party programme, 'The South African Road to Socialism', and to consider new policies in view of the continuously changing conditions. The meeting will therefore receive the Political Report reflecting on the overall political situation and developments nationally and internationally, and the State of Party Organisation Report, among others. Both reports will be presented by the Secretariat, Comrades Blade Nzimande - General Secretary, Jeremy Cronin - First Deputy General Secretary and Solly Mapaila - Second Deputy General Secretary. The Central Committee will also reflect, among other pertinent subjects, on the content of the second radical phase of the National Democratic Revolution and, in this regard, the tasks facing the SACP and the entire liberation Alliance as led by the African National Congress.
