YCLSA (HARRY GWALA DISTRICT) WISHES THE ANC (MOSES MABHIDA REGION) A UNITED
AND SUCCESSFUL REGIONAL CONFERENCE
Press Alert, 31 October 2014
The Young Communist League of South Africa (Harry Gwala District) wishes
the African National Congress (Moses Mabhida Region) a united and
successful regional conference to be held in Howick on the 1st and 2nd
November 2014.
We have no doubt in our minds that the people in the Region and other parts
of the Province will be enthusiastically awaiting for the outcomes of this
conference.
This conference is taking place during the most critical and extremely
challenging period in the history of our revolution, where all our Alliance
formations in the region/districts are faced with complex and extreme
political challenges.
As YCL, we believe that at the centre of these challenges in the question
on the direction and posture of the National Democratic Revolution in the
second more radical phase of our transition, and the motive forces that
should lead the revolution in this critical phase.
We appeal to all delegates to not view and use this conference as an event
of only electing leadership, but as an important platform of defending and
deepening the National Democratic Revolution (NDR).
It is our firm view that the ANC should emerge from this conference with a
consolidated and inclusive political program exposing the organisational
gains and placing the ANC in a deferent boat to lead the radical
socio-economic transformation for the benefit of the working class and the
poor.
We sincerely hope that the Regional Conference will come with strong
measures to expose and fight corruption in all our Local Municipalities
which over the past years has undermined the gains of the National
Democratic Revolution and subjected poor masses to poor conditions due to
poor service delivery.
We are confident that the congress will also come with progressive
resolutions on addressing Youth Unemployment and other challenges faced by
the Youth. The triangular challenge of Unemployment, Poverty and
Unemployment remains an unescapable concern for the people of South Africa,
particularly the youth and the working class.
As the YCLSA we have noted that after the political boiling point of 2011,
the ANC is now relatively stable. To us this means the ANC in the Region is
still able to deal with it internal challenges. It is our view that this
relative stability in the ANC has also levelled the ground for mending
relations in the Alliance. It is in this context that post Regional
Conference we wish to see the ANC Regional Leadership that is committed in
strengthening the Alliance and also in reclaiming the leadership role in
the Alliance.
A strong and united alliance is a precondition for any advance to be made
anywhere in this Country. United Alliance depict the unity of the people
and it ensures collective responsibility in defending the majoritarian
character of our democracy and deepening of the National Democratic
Revolution (NDR).
We wish the ANC a united, debate-contested, and successful Regional
Congress. We commit ourselves to work with the ANC and other progressive
mass formations in transforming the lives of the people.
Issued by the Young Communist League of South Africa (Harry Gwala District).
