Media Alert, 3 March 2015 International Women's Day and the launch of the SADTU Sports Festival The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) will, on Saturday 7 March, 2015, join the rest of the globe in celebrating International Women's Day. The day which is celebrated on 8 March each year serves to honour the economic, political and social achievements of women. This year's celebrations will be held under the theme "Make It Happen". The Union will also officially launch its National Sports Festival that will take place later in the year in KwaZulu-Natal. The International Women's Day celebration will take place in the North West Province. The event will start with a formal programme of speeches from the Union and Tripartite Alliance leadership. This will be followed by sporting activities such as soccer, netball and a fun walk to mark the launch of the National Sports Festival. Members of SADTU's National Executive Committee, Provincial Executive Committee and members from some parts of Gauteng and the North West will take part in the sporting activities.
