SACP Linda Jabane District (Johannesburg) Statement, 10 March 2015 Anti-crime marches held on the 9th of March 2015 The South African Communist Party's Linda Jabane District co-ordinated seven marches yesterday around its Sub-Districts. These marches are part of the District Programme towards consolidation of working class hegemony in all key sites of power. Seven marches were held in all Sub-Districts in Linda Jabane on the same day, and all were successful. The marches were to their local Police Stations to hand over a memorandum of demands relating to issues of crime in our communities, corruption in the police service, and police colluding with criminals such as property hijackers. This was the first action of its kind in our revolutionary pursuance, where sporadic class actions were taken peacefully. Close to 2000 communists around the Johannesburg Metro, have come out to participate in these actions. These marches are about calling communities to stand up and take up responsibilities of their areas and to further highlight to our police service that they should not take our communities for a ride but rather provide an improved service, transformation of SAPS from being protectors of private property to being agents of community safety, and their service must be effective and consistent services to our communities. More of such actions of taking up community issues will happen quite often. Issued by: SACP Linda Jabane District Contact: Kgadishi Moloto, 072 634 0652 -- -- You are subscribed.
