SACTWU.gif Press Release, 2 April 2015 SACTWU to Protest against City The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) has submitted an application to protest against the City of Cape Town. The submission comes after the City announced that it has outsourced the Good Hope Centre to a Film Company for the next three to five years. Many organisations make use of the Good Hope Centre and were not consulted on this decision. SACTWU hosts its annual Spring Queen at the Good Hope Centre and has done so since the inception of the event. This year is the Spring Queen's 40th anniversary and it has now been left without a venue. Thousands of clothing, textile and leather workers participate in our Spring Queen event, every year. We are very disappointed in this decision and will take to the streets. We reject that there was no consultation with key users and stakeholders. Issued by Andre Kriel, General Secretary, SACTWU If further comment is required kindly contact: SACTWU's Coordinator in the Office of the General Secretary, Fachmy Abrahams, on 082 522 2386.
