ANCWL Statement, 7 April 2015 Preparations towards Conference ANC Women's League Conference Postponed The National Executive Committee of the African National Congress Women's League met with the National Officials of the African National Congress today, 7th April 2015. The meeting, which was in accordance with the norms of the ANC where the Leagues brief the mother body in the course of preparations for Conference, was called to discuss preparations towards the National Conference of the ANC Women's League scheduled for the 16th to the 19th April 2015. The meeting also provided an opportunity to members and structures of the League to raise any concerns they may have towards Conference. Having given due consideration to the report provided by the ANC WL NEC and the issues raised, the meeting made a recommendation that the Women's League considers providing an additional two to three weeks before Conference is convened to deal with the mainly administrative and technical matters raised by the meeting. In the interest of a successful conference, the ANC, the ANC Women's League and its Provinces have committed to working together and will continue with the preparations towards Conference including the convening of Provincial General Councils. Engagements will continue to ensure that concerns and disputes that any members may have are addressed before the National Conference is ready to proceed. A new Conference date will thus be announced in due course. The ANC Women's League has taken heed of the call by the President of the ANC that the National Conference of the ANC Women's League must, of necessity, be an opportunity for rebirth and renewal. The African National Congress Women's League remains a critical instrument in the hands of the people of South Africa to drive the emancipation of women from the bondages of patriarchy and poverty.
