NUM Press Statement, 10 April 2015 NUM concludes a three-year wage deal with Gold Fields Limited The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) a majority union at Goldfields with 82% membership penetration concluded a wage agreement supported by the Chamber of Mines. This agreement was concluded separately due to the uniqueness of South Deep Mine which is a highly mechanised mine with a different skill base. Notwithstanding this deal between the parties, the NUM is still committed to the centralised bargaining forum and this agreement with Gold Fields should be seen as such. Our members are quite pleased with the wage agreement which was concluded without any strike, violence, intimidation and loss of life. The agreement is effective from the 1st of April 2015 and the duration is three (3) years. 1.
