COSATU Northern Cape Statement, 29 April 2015 May Day Celebrations The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the Northern Cape will celebrate the Workers' Day on Friday, 01 May 2015 under the theme: "Celebrating 30th Anniversary and repositioning COSATU towards radical economic transformation." In the Northern Cape, this day will be marked by hosting five rallies in the province as follows: . Open Air Arena in Kimberley (Main rally) . Colesberg Town Hall . Okiep Community Hall . Tol Spelman Hall in Upington and . Deben Community Hall in Kathu These rallies will be used as platforms to launch an ongoing campaign in defense of the unity of the workers that will culminate in the national celebrations of the 30th Anniversary on 01 December 2014. We will use these rallies to remind the workers of the selfless struggles of the workers under the leadership of this giant federation. All our rallies will be addressed by the CEC members of COSATU, CC members of the SACP, NEC members of the ANC and NEC members of SANCO. This serves to emphasize the significance of the Tripartite Alliance in these challenging times and to unite the working class behind the revolutionary programme of the alliance. We call on all the workers in the Northern Cape to attend these rallies and celebrate this internationally recognized day of commemoration. All the workers in different rallies will be treated to performances by different cultural groups in the different rallies.
