YCLSA.png YCLSA Press Statement, 21 June 2015 YCLSA thrilled by visit of the Cuban Five to South Africa The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] is thrilled that the full Cuban Five will be visiting South Africa after over a decade of relentless campaigning by progressive forces for their release. AS the YCLSA we are proud to have been part of those that were campaigning for their release and look forward to welcoming them at OR Tambo Airport this morning. The visit by the Cuban 5 is not only a celebration of their release, but also both a sign of the ruling ANC-SACP-COSATU-SANCO Alliance's commitment to Cuba and the values of communism. These Heroes, who were unfairly incarcerated in the US after being arrested by the FBI on September 12 1998, were only released last year. The African National Congress (ANC), in light of the 60th Anniversary of the Freedom Charter, is hosting the Cuban 5 Heroes and their families from the 21 June 2015 to 04 July 2015. This visit is indeed an extremely momentous event, reminding us of how far we have come and who are friends are. Indeed the YCL SA is an organisation which has taken up the challenge of countering the Americanisation and capitalist indoctrination of young people in South Africa. We will continue to fight tooth and nail, in partnership with other progressive forces, guided by the Friends of Cuba Society, for an end of the ongoing illegal American blockade and the ongoing disinformation campaigns capitalists have run against Cuba and comrade Fidel Castro for over 50 years.
