Vavi Cape Town March
TNA Reporter, The New Age, Johannesburg, 3 August 2015
The planned anticorruption march is not about Vavi, nor is it about the
NUMSA, former COSATU general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said.
Vavi and NUMSA, together with a number of civil organisations, plan to bring
the parliamentary precinct to a standstill with a march to Parliament on
August 19.
The march has been described as an anti-ANC march.
"We are gaining traction, there's an air of excitement on the ground.
"We are moving forward, no one can stop us."
Vavi said more than 200 organisations have thrown their weight behind the
march.
"This march is beyond me, close to 200 organisations have endorsed it.
"Even the public protector has endorsed it," he said.
COSATU president Sdumo Dlamini criticised the march.
"This is about them trying to mobilise support for the new federation that
they want to form and he's calling on a number of NGOs to support him,"
Dlamini said.
