Archive on the Privatisation of Education (Click here for the Index Page) <https://counter-summit.wikispaces.com/Index> The news that Bridge International Academies (BIA) has got a contract to supply the basic educational requirement of an entire country - Liberia - is the latest shock in the galloping roll-out of "free-enterprise," profit-making, capitalist-thinking service providers in education worldwide and especially in Africa. With this move, BIA jumps from being a competitor to basic public education in Kenya, Uganda and India, to being a monopoly private-enterprise supplier. This as a "state capture" of an unprecedented kind. Other companies in this racket include Omega (Ghana) and Pearson (global) and APEC Schools (Philippines). There are about sixty documents on privatisation of education accessible via the Index Page <https://counter-summit.wikispaces.com/Index> of our CU / SADTU-powered archive site. There is also a BIA page <https://counter-summit.wikispaces.com/Bridge+International+Academy+%28BIA%2 9+Collection> where archive material specifically related to BIA has been regrouped on one page (currently 14 items).
