News24white.png President Zuma to celebrate 74th birthday with family Amanda Khoza, News24, Durban, 12 April 2016 President Jacob Zuma is expected to celebrate his 74th birthday with family in a low-key gathering at the Mahlamba Ndlopfu residence in Pretoria on Tuesday, the Presidency said. "It will be a normal working day for the president and he will spend the evening with his children," said Presidency spokesperson Bongani Majola. Last year the president celebrated his birthday in a similarly low-key fashion with his family at the official residence in Durban. President Zuma's children organised a private celebration at the John Dube House. In 2014 the president reportedly celebrated his birthday while in the Western Cape wooing voters and he spent his 71st birthday in Gaborone, Botswana where he was attending the Southern African Customs Union Summit, according to the Presidency. For his 70th, he celebrated with a lavish party at Durban's Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in 2012. Birthday wishes The president's eldest son, Edward, said he wished his father a long and happy life. "I want and wish him a blessed day and may he see many more years." He said that regardless of what was happening in the country, his family, children and the ancestors would always be there for his father. "We will always be on your side, through thick and thin. The Gods and ancestors of the ANC will be on his side. "May you continue being a humble, respectful and a caring leader. Personally may he forgive all those that have and are continuing to degrade his name in the name of our beloved movement the African National Congress. "Happy birthday Nxamalala, Matomela we love and believe in you." ANC Women's League On Monday, the ANC Women's League said it would celebrate President Zuma's birthday. "This is an important day for many of us in the ANCWL who have learnt a lot from our giant and selfless leader. The ANCWL wants to thank the Almighty for keeping our leader for so long while we continue to draw inspiration from him," the league said in a statement.
