Postponed for two weeks

Process towards Release of Ministerial Task Team Report

As part of the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga's commitment
to engage with stakeholders regarding the Ministerial Task Team's "Jobs for
Cash" Report she held a number of meetings in her Pretoria office this week.

On Tuesday the Minister had bi-lateral meetings with the National Teachers
Union (NATU), the National Professional Teachers Association (NAPTOSA), and
the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU). On Wednesday the
engagements continued with the Suid-Afrikaanse Onderwys Unie (SAOU) and the
Professional Educators Union (PEU). In the afternoon the Minister met with
all School Governing Body Associations.

Emanating from these consultation meetings with the Minister, stakeholders
have requested more time to refine their inputs and responses to the report.
The Ministerial Task Team with the support of the Minister agreed to give
stakeholders the opportunity as requested and therefore the release of the
report will be postponed for two weeks to allow for these processes to be
concluded.

Stakeholders responses and inputs will be considered by the MTT and before
the final report is published.

The consultation with the various stakeholders this week has highlighted the
importance to ensure that all processes are fair, just and followed to the
letter. The process in this regard is as important as the outcome itself and
cannot be compromised.
