Telesur.png Venezuelan VP Travels to South Africa to Strengthen Relations Telesur, Venezuela, 8 May 2016 Venezuelan Vice President Aristobulo Isturiz landed in South Africa on Sunday in order to strengthen relations between the two countries. Isturiz was greeted on the tarmac by the country’s vice ministry of International Relations officials in Johannesburg, where he will remain until Monday as part of his official visit to the country. Aristobulo arriving in SA.jpg Diplomatic relations between South Africa and Venezuela, which were established in 1993, have blossomed over the years. The two nations have a Memorandum of Understanding regarding bilateral consultations and a Framework Agreement on Cooperation was signed in 2008 during the visit of the late President Hugo Chavez. During his visit, the Venezuelan leader is expected to address a variety of diplomatic issues, which forms part Venezuela’s larger objective of strengthening ties with member countries of BRICS countries, which are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. BRICS is made up of some of the world's emerging economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS makes up 42 percent of the global population and 27 percent of the world's GDP.
