More Strike against New Labour Law

The Morning Star, London, 17 May 2016

Strikes will take place across France again today, with further stoppages
planned later in the week as resistance to the government's new labour law
grows.

Lorry drivers are set to put up roadblocks around major cities and workers
on the Paris metro will also walk out.

Other rail workers are expected to join them tomorrow, while air traffic
controllers say they will join the fray from Thursday.

Massive waves of strikes and demonstrations have rocked France after the
government, unable to get the regressive law through parliament, used
article 49.3 of the constitution to issue it as a decree.

The law lengthens the working week from 35 to 46 hours, cuts statutory
redundancy payments while capping those made for unfair dismissal and places
new restrictions on trade union activity.
