Sossion wants Matiang'i to close Bridge academies

Henry Wanyama and Ruth Mwangi, The Star, Nairobi, 8 June 2016

KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion has demanded the closure of low-cost
Bridge International Academies, saying they are a profit-making venture. He
said the academies are informal schools but operate like private schools.
The 405 schools charge Sh600 a month per child.

Sossion urged Education CS Fred Matiang'i to "ensure that all children in
slums are catered for by the government." There are about 500,000 children
out of school in slums. He spoke after handing a petition to Bridge
co-founder Shannon May, demanding an apology to researcher Curtis Riep who
was arrested in Uganda when studying a Bridge school.
