Morning Star.png Teachers Take to Streets against Boss Snooping The Morning Star, London, 17 June 2016 Mexican teachers protesting against mandatory performance evaluations blockaded streets, a shopping mall and even train tracks in the western state of Michoacan on Wednesday. They blocked entrances to the Plaza Escala shopping mall in the state capital and gathered on at least one railway crossing, obstructing trains. The teachers also blocked streets to demand the release of two union leaders arrested last week on money laundering and other charges. Their union opposes testing brought in under Mexico's education reform and has organised protests in Mexico City and the colonial city of Oaxaca. In Oaxaca, which saw a popular uprising in 2006 led partly by militant teachers, roads to the north were blocked for a third consecutive day, while some bus companies cancelled trips forcing passengers to stay put or find flights. At Oaxaca airport, federal police maintained a perimeter allowing access only to those who could show they were passengers.
