NUM5.jpg NUM Press Statement, 12 August 2016 NUM signed a two-year wage agreement with Eskom The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has today signed a two-year wage agreement with Eskom in the early hours of this morning. The agreement shall apply from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2018 to all permanent employees employed in the Bargaining Unit at Eskom The provisions of the wage agreement also include, among others, the following adjustments: 1. Wage Increase A salary increase of 8,5 across the board for all employees at the highest scale is granted, and an increase of 10% is granted for all employees at the lowest or minimum scale. In year two, a salary increase of 8,5% across the board for all employees at the highest scale is granted, and an increase of 10% is granted for all employees at the lowest or minimum scale. 2. Housing Allowance The current housing allowance R2 600 will be increased by 10% to R260. In year two, the housing allowance will be increased by R140, totalling R3000 per month 3. Maternity leave Five months' paid maternity leave applies. 4. Eskom Death Benefit Fund An amount of R20 000 will be paid for the employee and spouse and R15 000 will be paid for children under 21. 5. Income Differentials The NUM is happy that Eskom has acknowledged that the apartheid wage that exists within the company will be eliminated with specific timelines.
