Think Global, Build Social! Exhibition on Architecture for a Better World . Exhibition Continues until 4 October 2016 . Free Admission . Tuesday through Friday: 10am-5pm . Saturday and Sunday: 10am-6pm . 281 Commissioner Street, Johannesburg (The Maboneng Precinct) "The exhibition "Think Global, Build Social! - Architectures for a Better World" explores the theme of social responsibility in contemporary architecture. "Architecture is currently in a state of crisis: on the one hand there is what is known as "starchitecture" - prestigious projects by acclaimed architects that serve to enhance the image of a few wealthy and politically influential clients. "On the other hand, there has been a massive rise in the number of building projects carried out in rapidly expanding megacities across Asia, Latin America and Africa with no architectural supervision whatsoever. "Meanwhile an increasing number of people all over the world are living in slum conditions. "What solutions can architecture offer to those segments of the global population that currently have no access to a well-designed environment?" The exhibition's tour to South Africa is supported by the Goethe Institut.
