SADTU Teachers at Work, with logo, smaller.png SADTU Mpumalanga, Media Alert, 28 September 2016 SADTU in Mpumalanga to March to Provincial Department of Education Offices over Teacher Posts Cuts It is all systems go for a march to the Mpumalanga Province's Department of Basic Education headquarters by SADTU members to protest the Department's plan to cut teacher posts. The Mpumalanga Department of Basic Education intends to cut the number of teaching posts in the province from 32 637 to 31 206. It has placed a moratorium on filling of posts in its offices and those of general workers in schools and has further abolished all vacant posts in the province. The march is a culmination of lunchtime pickets which have been taking place in district offices since last week. Members of the SACP, NEHAWU, POPCRU, SASCO and COSAS will also join the march. If the Department succeeds with its plans to cut teaching jobs, this will have dire consequences on teaching and learning in the Province. The march will take place as follows: .
